NursingCAS is not responsible for verifying an evaluator's identity. If a discrepancy is found, NursingCAS reserves the right to contact the applicant or evaluator to investigate. NursingCAS reserves the right to share the discrepancy without comment to all NursingCAS programs.
Enter the following information for three references. You Must Enter the Reference Information BEFORE you can print out the Reference Request Form.
Select either button. If you check, “I waive my right to access this reference,” the person writing the reference will be aware that you have waived this right. If you check, “I DO NOT waive my right to access this reference,” the person writing the reference will be aware that you may ask to read the reference. Under no circumstances will NursingCAS be able to grant you access to electronic or paper letters of reference.
If you want to have references sent electronically, the following fields need to be completed: Reference's Title, Reference's First Name, Reference's Last Name and Reference's Email Address. The other fields do not need to be completed.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to check with the appointed reference(s) to assure that the reference request email(s) was received and that the reference has properly E-submitted upon completion.
Committee letters must be designated as paper and sent through the mail. Normally these letters would be gathered by an advisor and sent together with a cover letter signed by the advisor.
If the committee letter of the reference(s) is a compilation of several individuals and contains ONE Reference Request Form, it will be considered as one reference. Enter the name of the evaluator that is filling out the Reference Request Form in the References section of the application. You will need to obtain two additional references. If you want the committee letter to count as more than one reference, you must indicate the name of each evaluator in the Reference section of your application. Each evaluator will need to fill out a Reference Request Form and submit a letter of recommendation.
If you want to have references sent by paper Reference Form, the following fields need to be completed: Reference's Title, Reference's First Name, Reference's Last Name, Reference's Occupation, Reference's Street Address, Reference's City, Reference's State, Reference Zip and Reference's Daytime Telephone. You should leave the Reference's Email Address blank.
Click on the Print Paper Request Icon to print the paper reference form and give it to the individual writing the reference for completion. This reference must be mailed to NursingCAS by the individual completing the form. The evaluator should complete the paper form and attach it to a signed letter. NursingCAS programs may not accept paper references unless a completed form and letter are attached. NursingCAS does not verify that your references are complete. Arrange for only one paper reference to be sent to NursingCAS per evaluator, as NursingCAS will provide a copy to each of your designated programs.
If you decide to change a reference name, use the delete button and add the new reference information. This can only be completed if the reference's status is listed as “New” or “In Progress.” Once a reference is received and the status switches to “Completed” the reference cannot be changed in any way by the applicant or the evaluator.
Once your request for References has been made, be it in electronic or paper form, it is your responsibility to monitor the status of your Letters of References, even after you e-submit your application. It is up to you to ensure that your evaluators complete the Letters of Reference in a timely manner. Arrange for NursingCAS to RECEIVE all of your references by the application deadline set by your designated programs. NursingCAS programs may not consider applicants who submit late materials. NursingCAS does not enforce reference deadlines and will forward the references, once received, to your designated programs, even if they arrive late.
Also it is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that he/she has the proper browser requirements in place. Please refer to the FAQs for further details.
